Barrelled = the center of the shaft is thicker than the ends

 The taper length is 11", and the diameter is 8 or 8,2 mm on the center, and 7 mm on the ends. 

The barrelledd arrows are the most accurate wooden arrows, which is also described in the "Saracen archery" book.

 Because of the facilitation of the ends, the weight is concentrated in the center, which makes the arrow more stable, and the optimal center of gravity can also be achieved with a lighter arrowhead.
